Solar Eclipse Experience Plan

Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you are most likely aware, there is a great deal of excitement around the total solar eclipse of the sun scheduled to take place on April 8, 2024. With that being said, school districts across the state of Ohio are preparing for this event in different ways. The results from our earlier parent/guardian confirmed the pathway we as a district feel is in the best interest of all our stakeholders. With that being said, the Conotton Valley Union Local School District will not be in session on Monday, April 8, 2024.
We as district educators recognize and honor that a great deal of learning takes place outside the walls of the traditional classroom. Extracurricular activities such as athletics and band are critical to the development of the whole child, teach valuable life lessons, and, yes, occur outside the typical classroom setting. As superintendent, I believe this special occasion provides our students and their families with a tremendous learning opportunity. We want this day away from the classroom to be an educational experience whereby families are provided access and opportunity to the valuable warehouse of available resources to enhance the solar eclipse experience. Prior to April 8, we will be sharing many of these resources with you.
